Weather...

Many rabbits die each year simply because people do not realize that they can’t tolerate heat over 85 degrees.  Rabbits don’t perspire.  The only way they can cool themselves is by their ears.  You can do the following to help cool your bunny.  Freeze several two liter plastic bottles of water. Remove the paper or plastic covering and place it in the cage.  An electric fan may also be necessary to help circulate the air.  Do not let the air blow directly on them. You can also use a sprinkler on the hutch roof or a misting system.  If using a shade cloth, be sure it is hooked down securely high enough over the cage, so the rabbit cannot chew on it.  Put the cage in an area under a shade tree.  These methods are still not a guarantee against over heating.  Check your rabbit frequently if you must leave it outdoors during hot weather.
